Offshore Energies UK confirms speakers for Economy & People Report breakfast launch in Aberdeen

The leading body for the offshore energy sector, OEUK, launches its new Economy & People Report at a breakfast briefing in Aberdeen’s P&J Live venue sponsored by Deloitte on Tuesday 18 June.

The launch event will be followed by three roadshows around the UK. The first in Deloitte’s London office will be on June 20. The second will take place at Orbis Energy in Lowestoft on June 25 and the Hull roadshow will take place at Village Hotel on June 26.

The offshore energy sector and its people are at the heart of the country’s aims to improve energy security, cut emissions, drive economic growth and provide a springboard to capture a huge international market. OEUK gives a voice to over 400 organisations and businesses throughout the country, and member companies include those with an interest in offshore oil, gas, and increasingly carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen and wind.

Members vary from the largest energy producers and developers, to contractors, consultancies, and the smallest start-ups. All share the ambition to safely provide cleaner fuel, power and products to the UK as their commitment to delivering net zero emissions by 2050.

For 2024, OEUK is expanding its flagship Economic publication to produce its Economy & People report. The integrated insight comprises an update of the offshore sector’s workforce profile plus fresh data on the industry’s contribution to the UK economy. As the General Election approaches, attendees will also have a chance to hear about the offshore energy sector’s manifesto and the plans to shape the low carbon energy system of the future. The event provides the ideal platform for people to hear about the investment opportunities, pathways to economic growth and actions required to unlock the offshore energy sector’s growth potential.

OEUK Market Intelligence Manager and Lead Author of the report, Ross Dornan, said:

“OEUK’s Economy & People Report and launch events come at a crucial time for the UK. It will help grow understanding of the opportunities oil, gas, offshore wind, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage provide for communities across the country. This event will illuminate efforts to develop supply chain capacity to ensure UK companies can capture as much value as possible, with the aim of delivering a homegrown energy transition that stimulates the creation of many highly skilled jobs whilst reducing emissions and growing energy supplies.”
