Investors Turning to Precious Metals For Protection from Economic Uncertainty

In the wake of recent international banking collapses, high inflation and general financial volatility, more investors have been buying gold to increase the stability of their portfolios.
While inflation rates continue to soften in Romania, diversifying investment portfolios with hard commodities can help to protect them from other causes of economic uncertainty. As well as gold, precious metals such as platinum and palladium are increasingly accessible to traders, and even rarer metals are seeing a rise in popularity among investors in Southeastern Europe.

Buying Gold Bullion Coins

While the market for gold in Romania is still developing compared to other European countries, over the past few years, Romanian buyers have shown an increased interest in purchasing physical gold. Gold offers security against inflation, devaluation and other economic events and, because of this, its value increases when returns on bonds, stocks and other investments may fall. As well as appreciating the craftsmanship, rarity and historical meaning of collectible gold bullion coins, investors benefit from the stable value of the precious metal content. As coins are readily available online, they make a good purchase for first-time precious metals investors.

Investing in Silver ETFs

Although less prestigious than gold, as a hedge against inflation, silver is also a good addition to a diversified portfolio. Due to its abundance, silver is less valuable than gold but its price is currently rising and, like gold, it has a long history as a stable investment.  As well as purchasing silver bullion or mining stocks, more investors are looking to buy shares in an exchange-traded fund (ETF). An ETF owns and stores physical silver and sells shares based on the current price.

Gaining High Returns from Osmium

The value of osmium, the rarest precious metal found on Earth, has risen by approximately 500% in recent years, making it 30 times more expensive than gold.  Despite its price, a decrease in the amount of gold available on stock exchanges means that it is attracting more interest from investors in the Balkans. Osmium, usually when it is alloyed with other metals, has several applications in industry.  However, it is its rarity that offers the most potential for very high returns when its purchase is added to an investment portfolio.

Investment in gold and other precious metals has a long and stable history, and the market is currently on an upward trend. From purchasing physical gold coins to buying stocks in extremely rare elements, investing in precious metals offers attractive stability during times of economic uncertainty.
