SCOTS tourists have been left baffled after learning a hotel offered them a better exchange rate for Scottish money than other UK notes.
The sign appeared in the lobby of the Grosvenor House in Dubai telling guests how much their native currency would be worth against the UAE Dirham.
The sign gives the currency rate for a selection of international currencies including Euros, US Dollars, Japanese Yen and Scottish and British pounds.
But depending on the type and home country of the pound, the rate appears to differ.
As of 28 December the currency exchange for one Dirham is the equivalent of 3.80 pounds and is beside a small photo of a Union Jack.
But the sign says one Dirham is worth 4.05 Scottish pounds beside a Saltire.
This means Scots will get more for their Scottish pounds than if they were to exchange any other UK pounds.
A Scots holidaymaker revealed he had to double check with the hotel reception to make sure it was right.
They said: “I asked reception and it definitely is correct.
“Scots get a better rate than English.”
The luxury hotel has 750 rooms and suits towering above Dubai Marina.
The two towers look over are part of the iconic sky line overlooking the marina and beyond.
And the hotel has a number of amenities including shops, restaurants, bars, pools, a spa and two gyms.
