Parent company Xero is headquartered in New Zealand and listed on the Australian stock exchange, with offices in eight countries including the UK.
Xero offers a range of plans (prices shown per month), including:
• Starter (£14): for sole traders, start-ups and self-employed people, unlimited users but limited to 20 invoices and 5 bills per month
• Standard (£28): for growing small businesses, unlimited users
• Premium (£36): for established businesses that use multiple currencies, unlimited users
• Ultimate (£49): for more complex small businesses, includes payroll and expenses (subject to limits), unlimited users
All plans are MTD ready, allowing VAT to be submitted directly to HMRC. Payroll can be added to all plans for £5 a month for up to 5 payroll employees, then £1 for each additional employee per month.
There is no minimum contract period and plans can be cancelled at any time.
Support is available by email 24/7 and customers also have the option to request a call-back. Xero has a rating of 4.2 on Trustpilot, with mixed reviews on the quality of customer support received.
Overall, Xero offers a good range of plans, including one of the cheapest MTD ready plans. However, it has more limited telephone support and one of the more expensive multi-currency plans.
