Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the fell 1.03% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Glencore PLC (LON:), which rose 2.23% or 9.45 points to trade at 432.65 at the close. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:) added 1.97% or 144.00 points to end at 7,470.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:) was up 1.75% or 12.20 points to 710.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:), which lost 6.07% or 8.90 points to trade at 137.75 in late trade. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:) declined 5.82% or 71.50 points to end at 1,156.50 and Tui AG (LON:) shed 5.68% or 83.50 points to 1,387.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1318 to 466 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 3.14% or 60.45 to $1,983.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.21% or 1.51 to hit $66.84 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.22% or 1.66 to trade at $73.04 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.66% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 103.47.
