Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which rose 7.01% or 38.80 points to trade at 592.00 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:) added 5.10% or 115.00 points to end at 2,372.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:) was up 3.69% or 48.00 points to 1,350.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Relx PLC (LON:), which lost 2.92% or 74.00 points to trade at 2,463.00 in late trade. Intertek Group PLC (LON:) declined 2.49% or 102.00 points to end at 3,998.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:) shed 2.33% or 57.00 points to 2,394.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 837 to 791 and 481 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.92% or 17.65 to $1,933.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.98% or 1.42 to hit $73.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.73% or 1.32 to trade at $77.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.79% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.91% at 101.93.
