Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were EasyJet PLC (LON:), which rose 9.70% or 45.40 points to trade at 513.40 at the close. Aviva PLC (LON:) added 3.26% or 14.40 points to end at 455.70 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:) was up 2.04% or 3.40 points to 169.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which lost 4.94% or 36.20 points to trade at 697.00 in late trade. Experian PLC (LON:) declined 3.71% or 110.00 points to end at 2,852.00 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:) shed 2.93% or 22.40 points to 742.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1158 to 686 and 449 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.32% or 6.15 to $1,941.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.30% or 0.24 to hit $79.89 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.50 to trade at $85.63 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.49% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 101.45.
