Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the added 0.35% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Anglo American PLC (LON:), which rose 3.26% or 88.50 points to trade at 2,800.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:) added 3.21% or 4.85 points to end at 155.85 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:) was up 3.20% or 24.80 points to 801.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GSK plc (LON:), which lost 1.84% or 27.80 points to trade at 1,484.00 in late trade. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:) declined 1.33% or 6.60 points to end at 490.40 and Centrica PLC (LON:) shed 1.22% or 1.40 points to 113.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 950 to 864 and 486 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.62% or 12.50 to $2,019.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.64% or 0.52 to hit $81.35 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.51 to trade at $85.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.44% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 101.45.
