Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.93% or 27.80 points to trade at 735.60 at the close. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:) added 2.99% or 37.50 points to end at 1,292.50 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:) was up 2.62% or 33.50 points to 1,311.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:), which lost 4.91% or 45.00 points to trade at 871.40 in late trade. St. James’s Place PLC (LON:) declined 2.19% or 27.00 points to end at 1,208.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:) shed 2.16% or 162.00 points to 7,328.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1124 to 692 and 477 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.03% or 0.55 to $1,927.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.86% or 0.70 to hit $82.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 1.09 to trade at $88.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 101.83.
