The prudent management of a charity’s finances is a core responsibility for all trustees, whether their charity is small, medium or large, and irrespective of what it does and how it operates. To help trustees, our guidance on internal financial controls (CC8) covers all the ways in which relevant controls can help charities manage every aspect of their finances.
From our research, we know that some trustees can struggle with the amount of guidance we provide. We have therefore started a programme of improving our existing guidance, to make them easier to read – especially online. We know that CC8 is one of our most used pieces of guidance which is why we prioritised updating this first. Last month, we published a new version of this guidance to make it easier to use.
