Ripple CBDC advisor appreciates Ripple’s European Policy Director for blockchain and sustainability discussion at an EU event.
In a recent tweet, Antony Welfare, CBDC Advisor at Ripple, expressed his enthusiasm about Andrew Whitworth, Ripple’s European Policy Director, engaging in a discussion on blockchain and sustainability with the European Union (EU).
Welfare acknowledged the efforts of Andrew Whitworth and commended him for participating in the event.
Great to see our European Policy Director @AA_Whitworth discussing #blockchain and #Sustainability with the EU https://t.co/OpnvnIHFcf

Notably, Welfare’s tweet responded to Ondřej Kovařík, a Member of the European Parliament, who revealed that he had hosted an event in collaboration with Ripple.
Kovařík expressed delight in hosting an event on blockchain and sustainability, given the significance for the public and private sectors within the EU. Accompanying the tweet was a photo capturing the attendees engaging in a productive roundtable discussion.
Happy to host an event with @Ripple for colleagues from both the public and private sector on #blockchain and #sustainability in the EU. pic.twitter.com/jmdqXq6uco

XRP Community Reacts with Skepticism
Kovařík’s tweet quickly garnered attention and generated an impressive 139.9k engagements. Among those intrigued by the development, a pro-XRP YouTuber, commenting with sarcasm, questioned the reasons behind the European Parliament’s meeting with Ripple.
Digital Asset Investor, another notable figure in the XRP community, also commented on the event. Expressing his surprise, he asked why members of the US Congress were not hosting similar events with Ripple.
He directly addressed prominent Congress members Patrick McHenry, Tom Emmer, and Warren Davidson, urging them to consider similarly engaging with Ripple.
Nothing to see here. Just a member of European Parliament hosting an event with @ripple . My question is why aren’t members of Congress hosting events with @ripple ? @PatrickMcHenry @GOPMajorityWhip @WarrenDavidson https://t.co/WtSWKmgcaO

Andrew Whitworth, who moderated the panel discussion on blockchain and sustainability, expressed his gratitude to Ondřej Kovařík and Renewed Europe for hosting such an eye-opening event.
Adding to the conversation, a well-known crypto influencer Mr. Huber took a slight dig at Ethereum and JPMorgan.
Ripple is still trying in good faith, while some Ethereum/JPMorgan lobbyist is probably losing a few dozen random 24-word memos in congressional offices right now. Out of clumsiness of course. https://t.co/JUs3YRd9PU

He suggested that while Ripple was making genuine efforts, others might be experiencing setbacks, possibly due to misplaced memos. This remark hinted at the perceived clumsiness of certain lobbyists, contrasting Ripple’s proactive approach.
Ultimately, the event hosted by Ondřej Kovařík, with the participation of Ripple and its representatives, indicates a growing interest in blockchain technology and sustainability within the European Parliament.
It is worth mentioning that the European Union recently unveiled a regulatory framework for crypto assets, paving the way for Ripple expanding into Europe, as The Crypto Basic reported.
