World Bank approves US$30 million financing for KSW 2024 program


Jakarta (ANTARA) – Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated that the World Bank agreed to provide financing worth US$30 million for the Tourism Awareness Campaign (KSW) program in 2024.

“The World Bank agreed that in 2024, it will provide additional financing for the continuity of this program,” he stated in Jakarta on Sunday (November 26).

In addition to financing from the World Bank, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will prepare supporting funds for the continuity of the KSW program in 2024. So far, the ministry is still calculating the budget for the program.

According to Uno, the funds will be utilized to support tourism villages that need human resources’ quality improvement and institutional strengthening.

The ministry will ensure that the funds are managed well. The planning of the KSW program also continues to be improved, so that it can be executed well, on target, on time, and bring the desired benefits.

“We will ensure that everything is carried out with good management and by involving all parties. Not only the planning but also the utilization and audit, so that the funds can be accountably used for people’s welfare,” he explained.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, on Sunday, awarded best tourism villages in the Tourism Awareness Campaign 5.0 program. In total, 19 winners were awarded in five categories.

The awards were aimed at encouraging tourism villages to improve their performance.

Uno noted that the winners are expected to be motivated to escalate and amplify their villages’ growth and potential with the promotion of tourism products.

“This is the concrete step that the government can take. Hopefully, it will open business opportunities, create jobs, and strengthen our economy,” the minister remarked.
