Which banks will be open during Christmas?

The world can feel like a very different place in the lead up to Christmas as various shops and services change their opening hours, be that to close more often or spend more time open.

Whilst mobile banking is used incredibly widely now, there are plenty of people that still prefer to go to the physical bank in order to deal with their money.

That can be tough at this time of year though, because many banks have different opening hours during the festive period.

Don’t head to the bank at Christmas

Christmas is one of the 11 bank holidays in the United States of America during which the Federal Reserve closes, so you will not be able to head to the bank on Christmas Day.

You will be incredibly hard-pressed to find an open bank in the United States on Christmas Day, but that is where online banking comes in. There are so many services that can be carried out over the internet, rather than in person.

At most banks, if you must do any transactions on Christmas Eve or Day you can use an ATM or online banking service. However, be aware that the Federal Reserve will be closed Christmas Day, so any money transfers done between banks online will not be processed until the following business day.

You won’t be able to get into the banks until Tuesday, December 26 which is Boxing Day.

This is not a bank holiday and banks open as many people will be taking advantage of the sales in the shops.
