The Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce board of directors voted unanimously at their regularly scheduled November board meeting to name Denis Washington as the president and CEO of the Chamber. Washington has been serving as interim president and CEO since May 2022.
“I have enjoyed my time at the Texarkana Chamber and look forward to moving the needle further in a permanent role,” stated Denis Washington, president and CEO of the Chamber. “I am excited about the role we serve in the community as a source for workforce development, community development, government relations, business retention and expansion, membership services, tourism, and much more. We will continuously evolve and change with the community and our members to serve everyone to the best of our ability,” continued Washington. “Our plan for 2023 will include more visits to our members, delivering well-rounded content, hosting networking opportunities, a continued focus on workforce development and business retention and expansion,” said Washington.
Washington retired from Regions Bank in December 2020, after a 34-year career in banking. He began his commercial banking career with Texarkana National Bank. He is active with the boards of TexAmericas Center, The Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, The Texarkana Public Facilities Corporation, ARTEX Regional Development Corporation and JCM Industries Advisory Board. Washington is the 2011 recipient of both the Idalee Hawkins Leadership Award and The C. E. Palmer Award for civic service.
