A payment of £270 is being paid to low income households in Shropshire this week, the money is being paid out by Shropshire Council through its Household Support Fund
Thousands of UK households are set to receive a £270 boost directly into their bank accounts from Monday.
The payments, part of the Household Support Fund provided by Shropshire Council, will be automatically paid to low-income residents by next week (November 20). The council has been granted £4.1 million from the government to help those struggling with rising energy and living costs.
The fund, which runs from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, can be used for energy and water bills, food or broadband costs, white goods, basic transport costs, clothing and blankets, and housing costs in special cases.
The money is aimed at helping those most in need, including large or single-income families, people with disabilities, OAPs, care leavers, and people with caring responsibilities. Those who haven’t received government support but are still in financial need may also benefit.
A £270 payment is being given to over 6,000 households on low incomes in certain categories. These include pensioners getting council tax support but not pension credit guarantee credit, and homes where Carers allowance or a child’s disability benefit is being paid.
