WISCONSIN RAPIDS – U.S. Bank will close its West Grand Avenue location in May.
Caitlin Hurley, the company’s assistant vice president and public affairs and communications representative, confirmed Friday the branch at 311 W. Grand Ave. will close May 16. U.S. Bank informed its clients about the location’s closure earlier this month. People can still visit a U.S. Bank branch in person at its other location in the city at 3520 Eighth St. S.
“We understand that the closure of any branch is a disruption for our clients and our employees, and we are working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all involved,” she said.
Hurley said employees who want to continue working for U.S. Bank are encouraged to pursue other opportunities within the company, including roles at other locations or remote positions.
Hurley said people’s banking habits and preferences have changed, including many turning to digital and mobile banking platforms as they look for simplicity. U.S. Bank has been reevaluating its physical footprint as its clients have changed their habits. The company has decided to consolidate some branch locations in certain markets while continuing to open and enhance other branches, she said.
Hurley said the company will maintain the building and will market it to interested buyers.
