Todd and Julie Chrisley get reduced prison sentences

Todd and Julie Chrisley‘s sentences have been reduced since they were charged and convicted for involvement in an extensive bank fraud scheme.

A records search by USA TODAY on Sept. 8 found Todd’s release date from FPC Pensacola in Florida is currently set for January 22, 2033, making his sentence two-years shorter than his original 12 years. Julie is set for release from FMC Lexington in Kentucky on October 19, 2028, about a year before her original release date.

The couple’s lawyer Jay Surgent, a white collar criminal defense attorney in New Jersey, told USA TODAY the Federal Bureau of Prisons decided to reduce Todd and Julie’s sentences since they were convicted of nonviolent offenses and have been “model inmates” since reporting to their respective prisons in January.

Todd and Julie Chrisley, who portrayed themselves as real estate tycoons in the South on their USA Network shows, were sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively, after being found guilty on federal charges in June 2022.

Todd and Julie were charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax fraud. Julie was also charged with wire fraud and obstruction of justice.

Federal prosecutors said at the time of their sentencing the couple was driven by greed as they engaged in an extensive bank fraud scheme and then hid their wealth from tax authorities while flaunting their lavish lifestyle.

“The Chrisleys have built an empire based on the lie that their wealth came from dedication and hard work,” prosecutors wrote at the time. “The jury’s unanimous verdict sets the record straight: Todd and Julie Chrisley are career swindlers who have made a living by jumping from one fraud scheme to another, lying to banks, stiffing vendors, and evading taxes at every corner.”

“Chrisley Knows Best” aired for 10 seasons, with its most recent episode broadcast in March of this year. The spinoff, “Growing Up Chrisley,” which centered on Savannah and Chase Chrisley, aired for four seasons between 2019 and 2022.
