An extra £150 will be paid directly into bank accounts to help with the Cost of Living, with UK households set to benefit. Families and households will get a bank account top-up from councils amid the Household Support Fund, which is grom the government to help amid the Cost of Living crisis.
Some in the UK are set to receive £125 in extra cost of living payments within days through the Household Support Fund, which is worth £842million. Reading Council will pay thousands of households free cash directly to their bank accounts, with eligible households set to get up to £125.
Support will be prioritised to households with people with disabilities, people living alone, residents with unsecure employment and large households. People with energy-inefficient homes will also be prioritised, alongside households with prepayment energy meters , residents in private rented accommodation and victims of crime.

Veterans, residents with English as a second language and residents with ethnically diverse heritage complete the list. Each council runs its own Household Support Scheme so eligibility requirements will vary depending on where you live. Funding is aimed at anyone who is vulnerable or cannot pay for essentials.
You do not have to be getting benefits to get help from your local council. If you get benefits, they will not be affected if you get a payment from a Household Support Fund scheme. If you think that you are eligible to receive a payment as a person above the state pension age in receipt of Housing Benefit who do not receive the direct government support provided to recipients of other DWP benefits, but you have not received a voucher, contact your council.
