Taylor Swift has once again proven herself to be a sweetheart, by sending donations to food banks across the States during her Eras Tour.
The much-loved US star hit the stage in Glendale Arizona last weekend – which was temporarily renamed Swift City in her honour – delighting a packed stadium of adoring fans with all her hits.
Her Eras Tour celebrates her 17-year career, as she performs tunes from her self-titled debut album, released way back in 2006, up to her latest release, Midnights.
And while Taylor, 33, has provided endless memories for Swifties with killer choreography, multiple costume changes, and elaborate staging, she’s also keen to make a difference off the stage too.
In fact, Taylor has been donating to food banks in the cities where she’s played so far.
While in Arizona, she made a sizeable donation to the Arizona Food Bank Network, which she didn’t publicise herself, but the food bank themselves wanted to speak out and share their gratitude.
Speaking to AZ Central, Terri Shoemaker, vice president of external relations at the Arizona Food Bank Network, said: ‘It’s not every day that you get a call from someone who works in PR for Taylor Swift, so we were dubious at first, but happily, it turned out to be absolutely real.
He added that Taylor’s agent had told her that Taylor planned to make a positive impact in the communities where she was touring, beginning with Arizona’s food banks.
‘Donations like this from very high-profile people like Taylor Swift help denote that hunger is still a problem in the U.S.,’ he continued.
‘It’s here and it’s a problem across the country. The recognition of that is so important, and so is just setting an example of how to support organisations in the community that are doing everything they can to help fight hunger and help support people who might not know where their next meal is coming from.’
But Taylor didn’t stop there, as a food bank in southern Nevada, Three Square, revealed that the Blank Space hitmaker had also left them a large donation ahead of her gigs in Las Vegas on March 24 and 25.
‘We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling grateful on this day, March 22!’, they wrote on Instagram.
‘@TaylorSwift has made a generous gift to Three Square, allowing us to provide thousands of meals to families and individuals struggling with hunger.
‘Thank you to Ms. Swift for supporting our mission and the local community.’
In yet another charitable act, the Bad Blood songstress recently gave out four free tickets to her concert to a young fan who survived an accident that left her with burns in 2018.
Having missed out on her Reputation Tour in 2018, Taylor visited the fan in the hospital and promised to give them free tickets in the future.
If there’s one thing about Taylor Swift, it’s that she always keeps her word.
