Santander issues 20-day warning to anybody with a bank account and says ‘we’re rewarding you’

Santander has issued a 20-day warning and told bank account holders they could win £100,000. Anybody with over £100 in their bank account will be entered into the prize giveaway, which could provide a life-changing sum of money if you have a Santander current or instant access savings account.

Santander will pick the winnier on December 15, 2023, and they will be contacted by phone, email, or letter, within seven days of the selection date. To be eligible, a customer must hold at least £100 in their account(s) on November 30, 2023, the high street banking giant explained.

As long as they have at least £100 in their account, they will be automatically entered into the prize draw. The winner will be selected at random and handed £100,000 just in time for Christmas – providing a huge sum of cash and a life-changing sum of money for account holders.

Andrea Melville, Director of Current Accounts, Savings and Business Banking, Santander said: “We aim to reward our customers each and every day through our innovative products and services, cashback and interest, but we’re excited to be able to reward one lucky customer with a life-changing prize just in time for Christmas.”

Entry is open to UK tax residents who are new or existing Santander UK customers, aged 18 or older. It comes as Santander offers £20 monthly cashback on bills and spending for account holders getting its Edge current account, with a seven per cent easy access savings account on offer too.

There’s fee-free spending with the Santander Edge debit card, for a £3 monthly price. The Santander Edge Up current account, meanwhile, will give customers up to £30 a month from cashback on essential bills and spending, the financial institution has explained online.

Customers can capitalise on a 3..5 per cent AER in credit interest (up to £25,000) on their current account balance, and fee-free spending abroad, for a £5 monthly fee, too. Santander’s Easy Access Saver, meanwhile, pays 2.50 per cent AER/gross (variable) to its customers.
