Open Banking payment provider Nuapay, operating under Sentential Ltd, has become an approved supplier on the UK’s Public Sector Open Banking procurement system.
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Open Banking Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) is a centralised hub, from which public sector organisations can access a range of Open Banking services.
Nuapay’s inclusion means that it will now be able to compete for tenders for payment initiation services issued by public sector bodies with access to the DPS, including central government departments, local authorities, charities and educational institutions.
Chief executive officer of Nuapay Brian Hanrahan said: “We are thrilled for the opportunity to empower thousands of businesses and citizens interacting with government services to experience the numerous benefits of Open Banking and account-to-account payments.
“For over 20 years, Nuapay has consistently been at the forefront of this transformative technology, actively contributing to regulatory change and improving how businesses using local government services pay and get paid.”
In 2022-23, the CCS secured £3.8 billion in commercial benefits for the UK’s public sector.
“This is an important next step for our partner network, allowing for collaboration, whilst enabling our partners to extend their proposition across the payments ecosystem within the public sector with the aid of Nuapay as their strategic partner,” added Annemarie Graham, director of commercial and partner success at Nuapay.
In March this year, bank payment company GoCardless agreed to acquire Nuapay, the Open Banking business of EML Payments, to create a full-service bank payment provider.
GoCardless will incorporate Nuapay’s offering into its bank payment platform, enabling it to “fast-track” the rollout of new disbursement capabilities to its customers and prospects.
