NatWest online banking down as customers unable to access accounts | Mirror Online

Natwest customers complained they were unable to access their bank accounts, meaning they could not check balances or transfer money(No credit)

NatWest has issued an apology to customers after its online and mobile banking platforms suffered outages on Tuesday morning.

The bank said there had been a “glitch” with the service on Tuesday morning but it had been resolved, in posts on X, formerly Twitter. “The mobile app and online banking service should now be working as expected,” NatWest posted on its “help” account on X.




“Please try logging in as normal. Thank you for your patience and apologies for any inconvenience caused.” It came after an approximately four-hour outage during which the bank said it was working hard to investigate and fix the problem.

Frustrated customers reported being unable to access their accounts, which prevented them from checking balances or making transfers. One user expressed their frustration on social media, noting that their local branch was closed, blocking any chance of in-person banking.

Another customer highlighted the urgency of accessing funds to pay bills. According to DownDetector, the first signs of trouble were reported around 6am, with the peak of the outage occurring at about 7.30am on Tuesday.

A service status update on the NatWest website later confirmed disruptions to both mobile app and online banking services. “We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and we’re working hard getting everything back up and running for you,” the bank stated.

Customers needing to make transactions were advised to use telephone banking, visit a branch, or use ATMs.. “For those needing to make payments today, please consider alternative methods,” the bank suggested. “You can still use your debit or credit card to make payments and get cash from ATMs, branches and the Post Office.”

NatWest has taken to Twitter, urging customers with specific banking needs to send them a direct message.
