NatWest and RBS to close 48 more bank branches this year – list of sites closing

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and NatWest confirmed plans to close 48 more bank branches this year.

As part of the NatWest Group, a total of 79 bank branches will shutter-down by the end of 2024, with NatWest closing an additional 47 sites, while RBS will close one location.

In addition to last November’s news of 18 locations permanently closing, customers who prefer face-to-face banking will be hit again. On their website, NatWest explained that banking has “changed dramatically in recent years”, underlining the “increased demand” for mobile and digital services.

From January 2019 to January 2023, average counter transactions dropped by about 60% at the bank. During the same timeframe, mobile app clienteles grew by roughly 49%.

Closures will commence from this summer, extending until October. This applies to all the branches involved except for one branch in London with unknown closure plans, 15 other locations in the city will shut down due to this announcement, reports the Mirror.

The sole/solo RBS branch mentioned in this announcement will shut up shop for good on October 15th.

No branches in Scotland have been affected.

Some branches to be closed include the final remaining banks in some areas. These include Natwest locations in Chadwell Heath, Larkfield, Norbury, and Southall, near London.
