We’re just a few days away from the last Bank Holiday of 2023 – until Christmas – and Brits up and down the country are desperate for some good weather at long last after an utterly miserable washout summer.
Everyone will be hoping for hot weather for the August Bank Holiday weekend, with many planning barbecues and weekends away for the Monday, August 28th Bank Holiday.
Unfortunately, the Met Office has given its verdict to the UK about whether we will have a hot bank holiday – and it’s not looking good.

The Met Office says that the weather will be pretty good in the leadup to the weekend, with ‘generally fine conditions’.
It’s not going to last, though, with ‘showery conditions’ giving way to ‘longer outbreaks of rain’ which will ‘spread across the country’ by the end of the week and ‘below average’ temperatures.
Rain will then turn showery and thundery over the Bank Holiday weekend, which is also not good news for those planning on heading to Leeds Festival over the weekend.
The Met Office forecasters said: “Generally fine weather may hold on across some parts of England and Wales on Thursday. However, fresher, showery conditions with the potential for longer outbreaks of rain established elsewhere, will spread across the country by the end of the week.
“Over the weekend, this theme continues, with showers for many, locally heavy and thundery. The heaviest and most frequent showers may be towards the east, while some western areas may be somewhat drier, although still with the risk of showers.
“Temperatures around or a little below average. Beyond this, an unsettled theme is likely to continue, with the most unsettled conditions perhaps towards northern areas, while southern areas may see the best of any drier, brighter interludes. Temperatures remaining near or a little below average.”
It might be best to plan a rainy day activity next weekend, then.
