Location of new Lutterworth Banking Hub confirmed for town residents hit by branch closures

The location of a new ‘banking hub’ in a Leicestershire town has been confirmed. Lutterworth Banking Hub will be located at 19 High Street, in what has been called a “convenient premise within the heart of the community.”

Cash Access UK, a non-profit organisation funded and set up by major UK banks to protect the country’s access to cash, has secured the location. The organisation say they will announce an opening date as soon as they can and that work will now begin to fit out the new premises

The town’s Banking Hub will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions. It will also offer a community banker service where customers can talk to their own banking provider about more complicated issues, during weekdays from 9am to 5pm.

Community bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank or building society available on each day of the week:

  • Monday: Barclays
  • Tuesday: NatWest
  • Wednesday: Santander
  • Thursday: Nationwide
  • Friday: Lloyds

A spokesperson for the organisation said: “Finding the right location for a Banking Hub that is convenient, accessible and works for everyone often takes time so Cash Access UK is delighted to have been able to secure a convenient premise within the heart of the community. This development is a significant step forward in bringing a Banking Hub to Lutterworth.”

Alberto Costa, MP for South Leicestershire said: “The confirmation of a location for the Banking Hub in the centre of the community is a great step forward in securing access to vital banking services. I have no doubt this will be of great benefit to Lutterworth when it is open and look forward to being kept up to date with its progress.”
