Gurugram District Administration on Thursday issued an advisory for corporate offices and private institutions and instructed them to allow employees to “work from home” on Friday in the wake of the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi.

“In consideration of the aforementioned facts, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to Work from Home tomorrow on 8th September 2023,” read the advisory.

G20 Summit 2023 Delhi Live: Hello and welcome to G20 Summit 2023 Delhi live blog. Please follow this space for all the latest updates on 2023 Delhi G20 Summit. India is set to host the world leaders including US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in the national capital on September 9 and 10 at the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex, also known as Bharat Mandapam, in Pragati Maidan. Elaborate arrangements regarding security and other aspects have been made in the national capital. 

In a Gazette notification issued by the Delhi government, a series of stringent traffic and movement restrictions that will be in effect from Thursday till Sunday. 

The curbs include prohibition of Goods Vehicles, Buses, taxis, and three-wheeler Scooter Rickshaws on certain dates. The entire area of the New Delhi district has been deisgnated as “Controlled Zone-I” from 05:00 hours on September 8, 2023, until 23:59 hours on September 10, 2023.

Bonafide residents, authorised vehicles, and vehicles involved in housekeeping, catering, waste management, etc., for hotels, hospitals, and other important installations within the district will have some exceptions. 

People are being encouraged to use the Delhi metro for commute within the designates dates as all metro stations except the Supreme Court metro station will remain open. 

Beside the controlled zone, there will be a regulated zone which would include the entire area inside the Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Marg) from 05:00 hours on September 8, 2023, until 23:59 hours on September 10, 2023. The access will to this zone will only be allowed to bonafide residents, authorized vehicles, emergency vehicles, and vehicles carrying passengers heading to the Airport, Old Delhi, and New Delhi Railway Stations.

The 2023 Delhi G20 Summit under the Presidency of India will be attended by heads of all the members nations except for China and Russia.

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi will be attended by Premier Li Qiang while giving no reason for Jinping’s absence. 

While, Putin last month told Modi in a telephonic conversation about his inability to attend the Summit and informed that Russia would be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. 

The Group of Twenty (G20) was formed in the wake of the 1997 financial crisis that hit East and South East Asia. The bloc includes the following nations: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the UK and the US, as well as the European Union.
