A Norfolk woman stole a person’s bank card to order 211 takeaways on Uber Eats totalling almost £6,000.

Brittany Narbett, 24, was lent the bank card of the victim as a one-off to pay for a take-out at his house on April 30, 2021.

But Narbett, from Dereham, a town about 16 miles west of Norwich, saved the victim’s card details on the food delivery app.

Narbett ordered hundreds of ready-made meals from June that year to October 2022, Norfolk Constabulary said, leaving the friend with a £5,772.80 bill.

The victim only realised Narbett had been ordering on Uber Eats using his bank details after a mutual friend told him.

He reported Narbett to the police, with Narbett denying she had done this to investigators and claiming it was an accident.

Appearing at Norwich Magistrates Court last Thursday, Narbett pleaded guilty to 14 counts of fraud by false representation with 197 further offences taken into consideration.

Narbett was sentenced to 20 days of rehabilitative activity requirement and must take part in a year-long mental health treatment programme.

She must also pay the victim £5,772.80 in compensation.

Duncan Etchells, supervisor of the Operation Converter team, said: ‘Narbett had been using the victim’s card details for over a year and cost him nearly £6,000.

‘I am pleased that the victim will now receive this money back through compensation and hope that the measures put in place will prevent Narbett from reoffending and allow her to move forward.’
