Overview
Agency Securities Lending (ASL) is a significant growth area for Deutsche Bank, enabling our client investment funds to earn additional yield on their investments by lending their securities out in the market. ASL has also launched an innovative new product enabling our clients holding high cash balances to earn extra yield by investing their cash balances in short-term instruments. The ASL business runs on a single legacy front-to-back trading system which is being re-engineered into a modern cloud-native microservices architecture over the next 2 years. ASL Technology is currently a global team of 25 across Cary, Berlin, and Spain with a center of gravity in Cary. This team is being doubled in size to deliver the technology re-engineering program, as an Associate Engineer within ASL technology, you will be a key player in the re-engineering program, implementing functionally complex requirements into a well-designed technical solution.

What You’ll Do
- Java application development in an agile collaborative environment while providing expertise in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to development & testing
- Design and develop microservice-based & Cloud-native application components in accordance with requirements specification
- Partner with business analysts and stakeholders situated in multiple regions and time-zones to understand requirements and convert the requirements into a well-engineered solution
- Co-working with Quality Assurance (QA) team on test automation of new and existing functionality
- Collaborate with engineers to participate and contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions and specifications
Skills You’ll Need
- Moderate years of development experience in Java
- Experience with all Agile software development frameworks and processes, and software design, Spring-boot, Oracle, and with complex performant Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Knowledge in container runtime environments (Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift), experience with modern software development life cycle (SDLC) tools – Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications using Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Experience designing and implementing distributed enterprise applications with Microservices, design and implementation of application programming interface (API’s), implementing applications onto Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or any other Cloud Platforms, and Unix is a bonus

- Structured approach to problem solving and strong analytical skills
- Expertise in Kotlin
- Experience with Kafka message/event stream-processing is a plus
- You stay current on technical trends to suggest innovative tools and approaches to interesting problems, and share your expertise with the entire Engineering organization
Expectations
It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $75K to $110K. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
