Cleveland woman apprehended in connection with robbery of U.S. Bank in Elyria

A 31-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested in connection with robbing a U.S. Bank branch Dec. 16 in Elyria.

Tyaesha Hunter is facing a charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, according to a news release from Elyria Police Investigative Division Lt. Bill Lantz.

At 9 a.m., Elyria police officers responded to a call of robbery at the U.S. Bank, 455 Midway Blvd.

Hunter entered the bank, approached a teller, indicated she had a firearm and demanded money, the release stated.

She reportedly obtained the money and fled the area on foot, the release stated.

Through the investigation, Elyria police detectives identified Hunter and an arrest warrant was obtained for her, charging her in connection with the bank robbery, the release stated.

On Dec. 21, Elyria police detectives, in collaboration with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and detectives from the Cleveland Division of Police, apprehended Hunter without incident in the 12000 block of Lenacrave Avenue in Cleveland, the release stated.

She was transported to the Lorain County Jail, where she currently is held without bond pending an initial appearance in Elyria Municipal Court.

“The Elyria Police Department commends the dedication and collaborative efforts of its officers, investigators and the assisting agencies in swiftly resolving this case,” the release stated.
