Chloe Madeley and James Haskell, who welcomed first child Bodhi in August last year, have sadly confirmed the end of their marriage just days before their new ITV series premieres
Chloe Madeley and James Haskell didn’t share a bank account throughout their marriage, with the mum-of-one admitting it could have been down to “pride”.
The former couple, who became parents to their first child Bodhi last year, sadly announced the end of their five-year marriage on Saturday. Chloe and James released a joint statement saying their “sole focus now is our beautiful daughter” after separating at the end of September.
“[We] mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023. We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time – certainly not while the television show was airing – but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand,” the joint statement read. “Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time. Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.”
When Bodhi was born, Chloe, 36, told OK! that she had to return to work eight weeks after giving birth because she “needed the money.” The fitness fanatic, whose parents are TV legends Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, revealed that she and James didn’t share a bank account.
Chloe explained: “James obviously makes a great income and he’s my partner and that’s fantastic, but we don’t have a joint account.” She added, “We’ve always had separate accounts and I think that’s a bit of a pride thing with me. Next time, if I get pregnant again, I’m absolutely not doing it. I will swallow my pride, I will jump in on James’ account and take at least six months,”
The couple, who started dating in 2014, secretly split in September but only recently made it public. In a statement to The Sun, Chloe was the one to confirm the separation. James, 38, was quick to break his silence in an emotional post on Instagram. He added to their statement: “It’s with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done. My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won’t be commenting any further.”
Chloe then shared his post on her social media as well. Their shock split comes as Chloe’s new ITV reality TV show, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair, airs on screens. During each episode, the star opens the door and gives viewers an insights into how she juggles work, first-time motherhood, and her famous family.
