Bournemouth town centre HSBC bank to relocate up the road

HSBC in Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth town centre, will permanently shut its doors on Monday, October 9.

However, following a successful planning application, a new branch will open its doors a short walk away in the old Ann Summers shop in Commercial Road on Thursday, October 19.

In an investment said to be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, the new branch promises to provide “significantly greater” accessibility for customers who are wheelchair users, mobility impaired, partially sighted or neuro-diverse.

HSBC said the new branch will provide improved services and accessibility for customers and colleagues and will lead the industry with the highest levels of sustainable design alongside greater accessibility for disabled customers and colleagues.

Rachel Hill, HSBC UK’s local director, said: “Branches continue to play an important role for us and our customers and we are investing tens of millions of pounds in updating and improving our branch network.

“As part of our investment, we will be relocating our Bournemouth branch to more suitable premises in a few weeks.

“The new branch will be more accessible for customers and colleagues with disabilities and will also provide new and improved facilities including self-service equipment, counter facilities and our team of colleagues to help customers with face-to-face enquiries.

“We have been talking to customers about the temporary closure for the last month, and while we are making the final preparations, which includes staff training, people can continue to use our full service branch in Poole or our freshly refurbished Westbourne digital service branch, any Post Office for day to day transactions like depositing or withdrawing cash, plus mobile and online banking is available 24/7 in addition to being able to call our contact centre.

Bournemouth Echo:

“Customers can find the best number on the back of their debit or credit card. We are excited about this new era for HSBC UK in Bournemouth and look forward to welcoming our customers into our new home very soon.”

Late last year, HSBC announced it would be closing five Dorset branches –  114 nationwide.

This included Blandford, Shaftesbury, Bridport, Christchurch, Dorchester and New Milton, in Hampshire.
