Banking on Women – NDB Araliya “Giving you more than what you want for yourself” – Adaderana Biz English

NDB Bank is always at the helm in supporting women in recognition of the diverse capacity they contribute to the society. Be it daughter, sister or mother, women play colossal role in providing for and raising a family.  They strive to provide a better life for their loved ones, by sacrificing their own needs. They engage in economic activities in diverse capacities and contribute towards the economic stability of their families.  Women are entrusted with an arduous balancing act where they have to consolidate their diverse roles to take care of their families. In view of this NDB Araliya was launched to support such women including homemakers and housewives, and women who work in different employment categories, be it as an employee of a company, self-employed or women who work more than one job to make ends meet. NDB Araliya product is especially designed to take care of these women, more than they would do so themselves, as they deserve all the care and value in the world.

NDB Araliya is not just a product, it is a platform for women. NDB bank propagates its services under the concept Banking on Women. Under the Araliya account all elements required to empower women to engage in economic activities are facilitated.

As a bank that cares about women, Araliya as an economic proposition was enhanced with a new Tagline to value and empower women further. Thus NDB Araliya- Giving you more than you want for yourself became the prime theme.

Through this renewed proposition NDB will facilitate Ground level activation- Awareness programmes and customer engagement activities to present women with ample opportunities to develop skills, hone talents and embolden them to actively participate in social, economic in Sri Lanka.

Women make up nearly 52% of the population however the socio-economic sector tends to undervalue the contribution made by women in all sectors. They are, by default, designated to take on the backseat in economic matters and are expected to solely take care of family.

However, at present with the advancement of technology and social reforms globally, women are forging forward to create a more sustainably suitable world for a living. Yet, despite the global changes of creating an equal platform for women, Sri Lankan women are still struggling to rise due to prejudicial challenges imposed on them that deter them from participating in economic and social interaction. In view of this, NDB Bank introduces the Araliya savings account to solely cater to the female segment of Sri Lanka, thus the concept of NDB Banking of women was born.  Launched as a new proposition under the women on banking, NDB bank serves loan facilities, credit card facilities, current accounts and non-financial advisory services through the Araliya Programme.

NDB Bank launched this initiative as part of its “Araliya” Banking on Women Initiative primarily to solve this deficiency and inspire more and more women to participate in economic and social action. The Bank aspires to honour, reward, and recognise the contributions made by exceptional women in their respective fields of competence.

The primary sponsor of the Vanithabhimana is NDB Araliya, and it has been in operation for the 3rd consecutive year. NDB Bank and Sirasa News 1st launched Vanithabimana, which has grown into a forum for Sri Lankan women who are colossally breaking new ground. The platform is a government-run initiative that has given women greater agency and made them active participants in Sri Lanka’s economy.
