A permanent banking hub has opened in Downham Market following the closure of the town’s final bank.
Downham’s sole banking services have been operating out of a temporary pop-up hub at the Town Hall for three months after Lloyds closed its Bridge Street site.
However, the service launched in its new permanent home at 10-12 High Street on Friday.
Open between 9am and 5pm every weekday the hub has a counter service where customers of any bank can withdraw and deposit cash, make bill payments and carry out regular transactions.

There are also private spaces where customers can speak to someone from their bank about more complex issues.
Anwar Ali, the hub’s operator, said: “This is an incredibly important community facility for our town.

“I am proud to be helping provide reassurance to people that their banking needs will continue to be met face to face.”
On Mondays the hub will have a community banker from HSBC, Tuesdays will be Lloyds, Wednesdays will be Santander, Thursdays will be Natwest and Fridays will be for Barclays customers.
Former prime minister Liz Truss, who is campaigning to retain the South West Norfolk constituency for the Tories ahead of Thursday’s General Election, had been pushing for the banking hub and attended Friday’s opening.
