A TEMPORARY banking hub is now open in Pershore providing vital services to a community which has been stripped of high street banks.
Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash, has opened Pershore’s temporary hub.
The service will provide locals with basic banking and cash services while plans for the permanent Hub continue to progress. The temporary Banking Hub is located at the Pershore Library.
It will be open weekdays from 10am to 4pm and will remain available until the new permanent offering opens. It will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions.
The hub also offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on allocated days.
Mondays will provide community banker services to Natwest customers, Tuesdays will aid Lloyds customers, Wednesdays will support HSBC customers, Thursdays will be for Barclays customers and Fridays will assist Santander customers.
Gareth Oakley, CEO, Cash Access UK: “While we continue to progress the permanent home for the Hub, the Banking Hub team look forward to welcoming residents at the Pershore Library and supporting residents and local businesses with their everyday banking needs.”
Dame Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, said:
“I am delighted that Cash Access has been able to work with Pershore town council to find a temporary home for the banking hub and I have also had positive feedback about the plans to secure a permanent home.
“Pershore’s a vibrant town and while I am saddened to see Lloyds Bank leave, I hope this news is reassuring for local people who prefer to do their banking in person.”
Mrs Charlie MacIntyre, town clerk, Pershore Town Council said:
“It was vitally important to the Town Council to do all they could to support the opening of a temporary banking hub in Pershore whilst a location for the permanent hub is being confirmed.
“The Town Council are delighted that the Library was identified as a suitable location for the temporary hub and are thrilled that residents and traders can continue to benefit from the services the banking hub will provide.”
