16-day warning to anybody with Lloyds, NatWest or Barclays bank account

A 16-day warning has been issued to Lloyds, Bank of Scotland, NatWest and Barclays customers. The banks are set to shutter branches this month, amid a change in UK consumer habits which has seen footfall on UK town and city high streets plunge with banks forced to close up.

Banks will be shut from today onwards, ending with a string of closures on October 31 (Halloween) as banks take action to modernise their offerings. The banks impacted are Lloyds, which will close sites in Northamptonshire and the south of England, as well as Virgin Money, which will shutter Black Country, Buckinghamshire, Cheshire, East Midlands and East Anglia sites.

The Bank of Scotland will shut seven sites north of the border, and Barclays and Natwest will also move to close up a string of branches UK-wide. All of the banks have cited an increase in the number of people banking online as a reason for closing during the tenth month of the year.
