Ukraine Wants $60 Billion Fresh U.S. Funds

The U.S. has a pending bill of $60 billion as a fresh aid package to Ukraine. The impending bill is to help the country fight against its aggressor Russia and the funds could be disbursed soon. CIA Director William Burns warned that Ukraine could lose the war with Russia if the aid is not sent on time. Therefore, more than Ukraine, it is the U.S. that is excited to send billions to Kyiv to fight Moscow.

The $60 billion fund from the U.S. to Ukraine will come in the form of aid, weapons, machinery, and ammunition, among others. Ukraine has been constantly demanding funds from the U.S. to help it fight against Russia. “The U.S. aid package will help Ukraine stabilize the front,” said Mark Cancian, a Military Analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

“Ukrainian forces will be able to, if not stop these Russian attacks, at least resist them much more strongly and conduct their own limited attacks,” he said.

Cancian added that Ukrainian forces need training to handle weapons to fight against Russia. “Concerns about a Ukrainian collapse or Russian breakthrough will be eased. I think the key thing now is training the forces and equipping them,” he said.

However, Ukrainian Military Analyst Mykhaylo Zhirokhov said that the $60 billion funds will not help them defeat Russia, but will only boost the morale of their troops. “The most important thing is that U.S. military aid is resuming,” he told the Current Time. He added that the fresh U.S. funding “will not be enough to turn the tide of the war.”

While Biden is open to funding Ukraine, Presidential candidate Trump is against funding the Zelenskyy regime. If Trump wins the election in 2024, the U.S. funding to Ukraine could soon come to a standstill.
