PNC is the eighth-largest bank operating in the United States. Like other financial giants, PNC has shut down over a hundred branches. All in all, the bank will shutter 240 branches, primarily concentrated in Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia.
When a bank plans to close a branch, it is required to notify the Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) at least 90 days prior to the scheduled closure. We have determined the total number of branches that may be affected based on the reported closures until the end of 2022 and those filed as of early September this year.
Another twenty-one closures have been reported to the OCC since October 2023, but the bank has yet to announce when those branches will shut their doors to the public.
