A MAN who won an £87k Audi and £20k in cash in a 90p prize draw almost missed out despite entering for years.
James Brodhurst, 53, won the state-of-the-art e-tron GT as well as the huge cash prize courtesy of online competition firm BOTB.
Despite being electric, it boasts a top speed of 155mph and a 0-60mph of 3.3 seconds.
The tech salesman from Newport, Wales, had been entering the online competition for years.
But he very nearly missed out after admitting he couldn’t remember what prize he had played for.
He routinely entered the latest draw and was shocked to receive a video call saying he had won the Audi and cash.
James, who now lives in Spain, said: “I wasn’t expecting this.
“I couldn’t remember what I’d entered for.
“I’ve been playing for years and obviously you always hope one day you will win. To finally do so, feels fantastic.
“Christian made my day when he called me.”
He continued: “I am a big fan of electric cars.
“They are the future and this one looks really impressive.”
The Dream Car competition was held by the giveaway website, BOTB.
Tickets range from as cheap as 90p to £5.60.
After scooping the huge prizes, James is the 702nd winner of the competition.
BOTB presenter, Christian Williams said: “A massive congratulations to James for winning this stunning prize.
“These cars are awesome. They drive like a go-kart and are a great piece of technology.
“They have a lot of horsepower but I am sure James will be able to handle it.”
It comes after an EV driver slammed electric cars for zapping the fun out of road trips.
