Manchester City have signed a three-year shirt sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency exchange OKX worth more than £55million.

The Premier League champions believe they are ready to break revenue records and capitalise on their Treble success.

That was made more likely by sealing a contract in the region of £18m a season for the sleeves on the men’s and women’s kits.

City have been charged with 115 alleged financial breaches by the Premier League, but chief executive Ferran Soriano lauded their increasing appeal.

‘It’s about hard work — we haven’t done anything that was out of the ordinary,’ he said. ‘This year our revenues are going to be above £700m. This is the British record and we are probably No 1 in Europe and also the world. We have a good football club, we play very good football and we win.

‘That helps us sell more merchandise. Our sales last season were 80 per cent more than the previous season.’ Soriano added: ‘Four days after winning the Champions League, our sales were as high as we usually sell in a month. This comes with winning and playing good football.

‘People watch us, they fall in love with our football and they become fans. That brings commercial opportunities and more money to invest. It’s a virtuous cycle.’

City previously had a £15m-a-year contract with OKX for sponsoring the club’s training kit and are set to announce a new partner for that soon.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Mendy’s City contract expired on Friday night. The France international’s retrial for one count of rape and one count of attempted rape started at Chester Crown Court this week.
