Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the added 0.47% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX:), which rose 11.99% or 0.62 points to trade at 5.79 at the close. Capstone Mining Corp (TSX:) added 11.39% or 0.36 points to end at 3.52 and Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX:) was up 9.46% or 0.72 points to 8.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:), which lost 6.68% or 0.34 points to trade at 4.75 in late trade. Tilray Inc (TSX:) declined 6.31% or 0.35 points to end at 5.20 and Trisura Group Ltd (TSX:) shed 4.21% or 1.67 points to 37.96.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 597 to 395 and 111 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 1.07% to 23.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 9.05 to $1,649.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.02% or 1.75 to hit $88.28 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.84% or 1.71 to trade at $94.52 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.06% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 111.44.
