U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 1.02% By Investing.com
Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Media and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Next PLC (LON:NXT), which rose 3.19% or 208.00 points to trade at 6,722.00 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) added 1.45% or 36.00 points to end at 2,519.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 1.41% or 26.00 points to 1,869.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which lost 6.46% or 76.50 points to trade at 1,108.00 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 6.12% or 28.30 points to end at 434.00 and Informa PLC (LON:INF) shed 4.46% or 31.80 points to 680.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1125 to 628 and 472 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.04% or 21.25 to $2,058.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.66% or 0.45 to hit $69.05 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.65 to trade at $72.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 101.06.
