Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the rose 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were EasyJet PLC (LON:), which rose 4.69% or 22.90 points to trade at 511.00 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:) added 2.98% or 4.35 points to end at 150.30 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:) was up 2.37% or 111.00 points to 4,791.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abrdn PLC (LON:), which lost 2.46% or 5.10 points to trade at 202.60 in late trade. Barclays PLC (LON:) declined 2.28% or 3.60 points to end at 154.28 and Prudential PLC (LON:) shed 2.05% or 24.00 points to 1,145.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 994 to 816 and 474 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.39% or 7.95 to $2,007.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.11% or 1.74 to hit $80.69 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.99% or 1.72 to trade at $84.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 101.84.
