U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.60% By Investing.com
Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Relx PLC (LON:REL), which rose 2.45% or 61.00 points to trade at 2,552.00 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) added 1.89% or 9.60 points to end at 518.20 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) was up 1.75% or 100.00 points to 5,820.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 4.32% or 112.00 points to trade at 2,480.00 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 3.56% or 221.00 points to end at 5,983.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 3.38% or 93.00 points to 2,658.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1318 to 523 and 441 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.05% or 0.85 to $1,841.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.80% or 2.14 to hit $74.22 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.56% or 2.13 to trade at $80.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 104.22.
